Feedback sought to help inform draft Reserve Management Plans

18 December 2025

Council is beginning the process of creating two new Reserve Management Plans, for reserves in the Rural Bruce area and also in the Clinton-Clydevale area.

The first stage of this process begins with a public consultation, where the public are invited to provide comments and suggestions for how the reserves in both areas should be managed now and in the future.

Council is holding two separate consultations, one for the Rural Bruce Reserve Management Plan, and one for the Clinton-Clydevale Reserve Management Plan. Feedback received now will help shape what each plan contains, and how the reserves in that area will be used and cared for.

The Rural Bruce plan will incorporate reserves that are located within the rural part of the Bruce-Waihola Ward, excluding reserves in Milton and Waihola. It will also include some reserves that are outside of the Bruce-Waihola Ward which are not currently covered in any other reserve management plan, such as reserves in the Toko Mouth and Toko River areas.

The Clinton-Clydevale plan will incorporate reserves in both the Clinton and Clydevale townships, as well as surrounding areas within the Clinton-Clydevale Ward. It will also include some reserves that are outside of the Clinton-Clydevale Ward, such as reserves in the Hillend area.

This first stage of consultation opened today (Thursday 18 December 2025), and will close at 5pm on Friday, 13 February 2026.

Once a draft Reserve Management Plan has been created for each area, there will be a further formal consultation period to seek feedback on the draft.

Submissions can be made online via our website. There is also an interactive map online, to see the location and a brief overview of each reserve.
