Proposal to demolish the Lovells Flat Hall

Council is consulting on a proposal to demolish the Lovell’s Flat Hall, located at 151 Station Road (between Balclutha and Milton).

The hall originally formed part of the Lovell’s Flat School and is located on a recreational reserve alongside a swimming pool.

Widespread water and borer damage is present inside the hall, and the building would likely be vulnerable in an earthquake. The hall is rarely used by community groups as it no longer has a power connection and would require a lot of work and resources to bring it up to a standard to use safely.

Have your say

Council is now consulting with the nearby community to gather feedback on this proposal. We want to hear what you think about demolishing the Lovell’s Flat Hall and retaining the pool and reserve area for public use.

Consultation will open on Monday 25 May 2026 and run for two weeks, closing at 5pm on Monday 8 June 2026.

Use the form below to have your say online. Alternatively, you can pick up a hard copy feedback form at Council’s Rosebank office, the Balclutha or Milton Community Libraries, or the Clutha isite Visitor Information Centre.
